First of all congratulations to the Madoka Laser Beauty and Nail & Foot Clinic in Sadlergate Derby for winning this year’s retail award.
Madoka will be one of many businesses in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter supporting the Latin Street Dance on Saturday the 18th December from midday until 4.00pm.
The idea for the event is that of Martin Roper, manager of Scenario clothes shop. He contacted Stan & Errol @ the Salsa Kitchen in order to help promote the event.
The Salsa Kitchen Dancers are a group based in Derby who all met @ Absolute Salsa and decided that one night of dancing was not enough.
They started to attend lessons at other dance schools across the Midlands, attending various social events and the group started to grow, the Facebook group for the Salsa Kitchen now has over a 1,000 members in an eleven month period.
The ethos of the group is to promote and support the dance scene in the Midlands, the various teachers and social events.
The Latin street dance on Saturday 18th is open to everyone to come along and join in.
For those of you who are not aware there is a vibrant Latin dance scene in the Midlands the Latin Street dance provides the chance to meet up with some of the enthusiasts and find out about lessons and events.
There are lots of styles to choose from, New York Salsa, Cuban salsa, Bachata, Cha ChaCcha, Meringue, Tango and the latest craze on the dance scene Kizomba.
At present Karen Freeman and Ellwood Taylor who organise weekly social events in Nottingham and who teach in Nottingham and Lincoln will be providing demonstrations during the day and leading some shine moves.
Kate Judge from Salsa People will be giving a Rueda demonstration, so please come and join in and find out all about the vibrant dance scene in the Midlands.
The Salsa Freestyle team will also be supporting this event, they hold monthly events at the Slug & Lettuce in Derby and lessons in Burton.
